Burcin Sonmezer moved to the U.S. in 2009 to pursue an MBA and a Master’s in Accounting at Kennesaw State University, building on her background in physics. While she knew she wanted to follow a different path, Burcin’s background provided her a sharp sense of reasoning, problem-solving skills and analytical thinking, which proved to be the perfect foundation for her work as an accountant.
She started as an Accounting Manager at a rental property management company, gaining hands-on experience in financial operations. Later, she joined Manay CPA, specializing in international and business tax, helping clients navigate complex tax regulations. She worked her way up to partner and is also a Public Notary and Acceptance Agent (CAA), currently pursuing her CPA certification.
She is a seasoned tax professional with a specialized focus on Tax Strategy, International Tax, and Complex International Accounting Matters. With extensive expertise in navigating the complexities of global tax frameworks, she has a solid understanding of tax treaties and how they apply across various jurisdictions.
Outside of work, Burcin is a proud mom of twin boys, loves traveling, reading, and music, and values family time. Dedicated to continuous growth, she’s committed to helping clients succeed. As an active volunteer of ATFC, she took on a leadership role in various projects and happily contributes to the Turkish-American community she is a part of, working to build stronger ties and foster deeper connection.
